White Nuisance
Posted on Saturday, December 25, 2004 :|: Nobody cared enough to Comment

I waited till the last minute to go x-mas shopping. I had to buy something for my mom and nephew. I was gonna go out Wednesday, but it started snowing. I knew that everybody would be freaking out and running to the grocery store screaming "Oh my god, it's snowing. Must stock up on food." Nobody in this city knows how to be prepared. I also knew that the malls would close down after the first snowflake hit the ground, only to open back up the next day. I decided to wait.

I went to the mall Thursday and bought my mom's gift, but I couldn't find the video my nephew keeps talking about. Traffic was so bad that it took me an hour to drive one mile to the mall. On my way home I got stuck in the ice. I've never got stuck on ice before. I've been stuck in mud when I went off-roading, but never ice. There was a car in the lane in front of me and I couldn't change lanes cause I was driving through some big ruts. After about ten minutes of trying in vain to get in the next lane, I only ended up closer to the curb. I decided to call a tow truck and they said they would charge $125 to pull me out. I got out and started chipping at the ice with the tire iron. I made an angeled grove for the front tires to take me out of the ruts and into the next lane. I was working on the back tires when a guy pulled up in a jacked up Chevy 4x4 and asked if I wanted him to pull me out for $10. I think if I finished chipping the ice I would have made it out, but I wasn't about to chance it. He pulled me on up the road to level ground and I went home with no other problems.

Now I don't want to drive over to my moms house for x-mas, cause the roads are still bad(and I don't have my nephew's gift). I'm thinking about it, but I don't know if I want to take the chance.

As a kid I always wanted a white x-mas, but it usually doesn't snow until February in Memfrica. It finally snows for x-mas here, and everything is all screwed up. I never thought a white x-mas would ruin x-mas.
