All this mess with the RIAA has prompted me to search for legal, yet still free ways to download music. I came across iRATE radio. It is a SourceForge project and seems pretty cool. It automatically downloads mp3 files from different websites. It uses an algorithm to select new songs based on how you rate other songs. It is really cool, but it has two major problems. First, it takes a while to figure out what type of music you like. I think it took me 4 hours of rating each song before I started to hear stuff I liked. Second, they are pretty much all unsigned bands(that's why it is free), so many of the songs suck ass. I have to say that most of the recordings are of good quality, it is the talent that is sometimes questionable. I also looked at a couple paid download sites, but neither of them had anything I liked. The point of this post is to ask, does anyone know of any legal mp3 sites/programs that have a decent selection of music? Comments

From: webmaster I looked at iTunes, but I couldn't find a list of all available music. I'm not gonna download their software just to find out they have the same selection as everybody else. I did like the 99¢ per song bit, but iRATE was free. Comments are currently disabled due to abuse. Please email me.
